An adventure in oils
I’m on a journey of discovery in oils, driven by my lifelong love of nature and fascination with fantasy stories. Inspired by these narratives, I’ve begun to infuse my work with elements that evoke a sense of adventure and a deep appreciation for the wonders of the natural world.
My grandfather and my father were both painters, so I have been surrounded by oil paints for as long as I can remember. This family tradition has deeply ingrained the medium into my artistic practice, making it not just a tool, but a cherished connection to my heritage.
Being raised in Nelson and spending countless hours outdoors exploring the damp, beautiful native bush, has undoubtedly fuelled my desire to capture its mysterious essence on canvas. The dense foliage, the play of light and shadow, and the rich, earthy tones of the forest floor all find their way into my paintings, reflecting my experiences and memories of the bush.
Through my work, I aim to share the enchantment and tranquility that nature offers, inviting viewers to embark on their own journey of exploration and discovery.
